"How Good It Is…"
Evangelical Pastors and Wives Dinner: "Behold how good and pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity" (Psalm 133:1). This week we hosted our third annual Evangelical Pastors and Wives Dinner. Thirty-eight attended from Gunnison, Lake City and Crested Butte, CO. Our goal is to build unity and communication between the various pastors as well as to allow their wives to interact. After a nice dinner we broke into small groups where everyone prayed for each other and their respective ministries. Then we joined hands and prayed for each community and our country. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully!
High Ground Men's Retreat: February 25-27 I had the privilege of leading worship for fifty men at the High Ground men's Bible/ski retreat at Beaver Creek, CO. This year I was asked to be one of the speakers as well. I was waaaaaay over my head joining a line-up which included Dr. Gene Getz (Dallas Seminary), Dr. Walter Bradley (Baylor University), Gen. Charlie Duke (astronaut who walked on the moon), and more. Thanks to your prayers, the Lord used my talk. Several men shared that I had "stretched" them and some asked about the term "born-again"! Of course, each of these questions opened doors to share. A special highlight was being introduced by our son Steve. He's recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon and couldn't come, but instead put together a wonderful video piece. There's always room for more men, so if you're interested check out our finishwithhonor.com website.
Delta Revival continues! As you remember we held a week of services in Delta, CO at the beginning of February. We sensed that the revival had already begun when we arrived and continued wonderfully while we were there. Pastor James Conley reports that the revival continues and lives are being changed!
Rich and Shelba Townsend: Rich and Shelba continue to impact many lives for Jesus! In addition to organizing all our events (I can't even organize my sock drawer?), he and Shelba lead a rancher's Bible study, a young wives Bible study, organize events for the church, and teach our Saturday night services when I'm out of town. Thank God for these dedicated workers and for your prayers for them!
Family: Steve and Annie in LA are busy with Annie teaching special needs children and Steve recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Steve started work on a new television program this week. Tim and Sarah are doing well in LA with Sara working for Dell and Tim with a new job in shipping. We visited with Nick and Bek while at Beaver Creek and their restaurant is gaining a great reputation. Stephen, Joy, Hannah and Bethan are going strong in Inverness, Scotland with Stephen preaching around the UK on a regular basis. Melva is praying about "retiring" from substitute teaching next year in order to focus on our ministry.
Firefighter Bibles: We have sent out close to 2000 firefighter New Testaments around the United States, Canada, and Uganda! One church in NC hosted a dinner for 200 first responders and we were able to provide each of them with copies. Your prayers and support make this possible!
Answered prayers: Recently, one of our Board of Reference members, Gay Reynolds, former director of the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters, had back surgery. Following the surgery, some of his nerves weren't responding and he couldn't lift one leg. After prayer the leg has begun to function, and all involved are rejoicing! He and Sue would appreciate your prayers for continued healing! A while back I asked for prayer that we would see more souls come to Jesus. People have been literally pulling me aside to ask about Jesus!
Finances: As the apostle Paul says in Philippians 4:18, "I have received everything in full, and have an abundance…what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus". We have been able to meet every need as well as help other Christian workers. Many are praising God for your gifts through us!
We don't take your support lightly. We pray over where each dollar is spent. Our books are kept by an accountant who works for the county finance office and then annually reviewed by an independent CPA.
Upcoming: I finish teaching skiing toward the end of March, and then we travel to Guthrie, OK for services at Abell Church (4/19-26). In May we head to KY for services (5/17-20), and take a vacation break (5/23-29). May 31st and June 7 I preach in Pitkin, CO. Please pray for these meetings as well as our normal Saturday night meetings here in Gunnison. Looking ahead, I've already received a call about firefighting this summer.

Prayer Requests: As we enter our 46th year of ministry, many wonderful things are happening! Please pray that the anointing of the Holy Spirit will rest upon us as we seek to share the gospel of Jesus locally and around the country. Please pray for the Bibles and devotionals we're sending out to be used of the Lord to draw souls to Jesus. Please pray for our family's health and for each of us to place the Lord first in our lives. Please pray for Rich and Shelba as they continue to serve in many vital areas of ministry. Please pray that I will overcome a sleep apnea issue and get sufficient rest. Thank you!
