April Blessings: One of our favorite passages is Psalm 103:1! "Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name!" We have soooooo much to give thanks for! Early in April we had a "vision retreat" with Rich and Shelba at the Glen Eyrie conference center. It was a wonderful time of refocusing on the vision we've had since 1969, "Win One-Train One-Send One". We wanted to be sure that everything we did as a ministry fit into that vision. Following that, Melva and I had the privilege of sharing at Grace Fellowship in Lake City, CO; a church that started out of a Bible study we worked with in the 1970's. What a Spirit-led group of disciples who have a heart for missions. In between we were finishing up teaching the spring semester of our Bible Institute and seeing the Lord move in great ways during our "Saturday Evening Worship".
April 20th it was back to Colorado Springs to have dinner with "alumni" and supporters of the ministry. Glenn Miller, our best man from 1971, Cliff Ellis, one of our early ministry leaders from Crested Butte in the 80's, Kenny and Nancy Lowe who I met while serving at "ground zero" in New York, Brent and Lorae, Don and Shirley, Brooke, Nate and Lindy, and many others, all active in the Lord's work! Following the dinner Melva and I stayed in Colorado Springs for a week meeting with friends, resting and unexpectedly getting daily rehab treatments from a Christian physical therapist using electric current to enhance the healing process.
Special blessings included the divine appointments the Lord placed in our paths. The waitress at our dinner who lingered and said, "I'm not very religious, but would you pray for my mom?", the security guard who was working at a ministry headquarters but didn't know Jesus yet, the former army ranger who came as a guest to the dinner, and more. Then, it "just happened" that a board member of a Christian radio station walked in as we were touring the station and announced that the station had just received permits to reach into Lake City and Crested Butte, CO near us. A faithful brother, Steve, had struggled for over 18 months with a debilitating, undiagnosed, medical problem and couldn't work or walk without crutches, suddenly responded to the prayers of many and is making a dramatic recovery. Truly a miracle of God's grace!
Upcoming: After three days at home, Melva and I head to Waynesville, MO to hold services May 5-8 and then on to Oklahoma City for a dinner with our Board and supporters May 11th and then eight days of services in Guthrie, OK May 12-19, followed by fire training classes and preaching in Pitkin, CO. Then, Lord willing, my knee will be strong enough to go on forest fire assignments. Please pray for the Lord's anointing!
Rich and Shelba: What a privilege it is to share ministry with Rich and Shelba! They have gifts which supplement ours and even exceed them. Rich teaches, encourages, and exhorts; Shelba is working with young wives and welcomes many into their home. Thank you for your prayers for them both!
Family: Great news concerning my mother! During our last visit, the oncologist reported that her cancer seems to be entering remission. She may be able to cease the chemotherapy this summer. She does have surgery this month for an unrelated issue. God was gracious enough to reveal her cancer through her tests to prepare for this surgery a year ago. He really does work all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28). Joy, Stephen and the girls have moved into the larger residence the Lord provided and Stephen is preaching regularly around Scotland and England. Bek and Nick are currently in Peru, please pray they will sense the Spirit's call while on this trip and turn fully to Jesus. Steve and Annie are doing well in Hollywood and Tim and Sara are going strong in LA.
Alumni: Brent Kinseth is helping lead worship at a church and wife Lorae is working with the Navigators in Colorado Springs. Cisco and Naomi are leading mission teams out of San Diego. Diane Johnson is leading programs for Child Evangelism Fellowship in Jackson, MS. Brad and Gina Shaw are serving in Peru. Corey and Tiffany Carey are serving in Kenya. Lyn Lampert is a pastor in Lake City, CO. Cathy is serving in Asia as are Rick and Colleen, Paul and Sarah Muirhead are directing children's ministries, and Mark and Karen Higgins are ministering in Mexico. And that's only a sample! Your prayers and support help us aid in equipping workers to go into the Lord's harvest, thank you!
Finances: We are blessed to see how the Lord provides each month, not only our immediate needs but enough to help others in need around us. As some faithful supporters go to join the Lord, others of you step up to fill the gap. Thank you for praying for us! We pray He will bless you abundantly in return!
Prayer Requests: This month we met several of you who pray for us daily. Thank You!!! We know that's what undergirds us each day. Please pray for the Holy Spirit's anointing on us as we share both here and around the country. Please pray for full recovery for Allen (brain hemorrhage), Jodi, Archer (stroke), Steve (extreme gout), my mom's surgery, for Ken to have a successful kidney transplant (or be healed), and my knee.
Recently I was leading worship at a conference and the speaker turned and asked me to sing "My Tribute" by Andre Crouch. Fortunately the Lord brought the words to mind and I'd like to close with them.
"How can I say thanks, for the things You have done for me. Things so undeserved, yet You gave to prove Your love for me. The voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude. All that I am, or ever hope to be, I owe it all to Thee! To God be the glory, to God be the glory, to God be the glory for the things He has done!"
Thank You! We love you! Rick and Melva, Rich and Shelba
