SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS!
First, Answered Prayers: "There shall be showers of blessings" goes the old hymn and for us it's so true. Last month we asked you to pray for Stephen and Joy's housing situation in Scotland. Their missionary/landlord was retiring and needed her house back. We were led to pray for a larger, nicer place with a lower rent?. God answered the prayer! Rich and I did three more funeral services enabling us to share Jesus with both locals and out of town folk. We asked you to pray the "bottleneck" at the seminary would open up, and it did. Now I just need to rewrite my work in the "New Improved Format".
More answered prayers: Rich and Shelba and Melva and I just returned from a two day "vision retreat" at Glen Eyrie, the Navigators ministry headquarters near Colorado Springs. For two days we prayed, walked about the grounds and met together to review and renew the calling and vision Jesus gave us 44 years ago. What a glorious time. Thank you for your prayers!
The Lenten Soup Supper I shared with our Catholic friends went well as I was able to share on the theme, "Courage through Faith"; how the Holy Spirit strengthens us as we trust and obey.
Successful surgery! After 11 days straight teaching skiing during our spring break crowds, my knee decided my season was over a couple weeks early. I underwent arthroscopic surgery sooner than planned and am now recovering. The surgery went well and I hope to be good for forest fire season; although the surgeon keeps making noises about a knee replacement.
Upcoming: May 5-8 we will hold services at Faith Baptist Church in Waynesville, MO. May 12-19 we will hold services at Abell Church outside of Guthrie, OK. In between, we have our regular Saturday Evening Worship Services and West Elk Bible Institute.
Attention-Attention-Attention!!! For those of you within driving distance of Colorado Springs, we will have our annual "Thank You Dinner" on Saturday evening, April 20th, at TGIFridays restaurant, at 6pm. (Take exit 149 off of I-25, it's on the Northwest corner.) For you "Okies", we will meet Saturday, May 11th, at Johnnies Hamburgers in Edmond, OK at 4:30 (33 E. 33RD St). Please join us for an evening of fellowship, praise and ministry updates!
News from "Alumni": This weekend we ran across Leslie Wick from our ministry in the late 60's. We discovered that Leslie has served in Christian education all these years! As we talked with Leslie, we thought of all those who have gone forth and are still serving Jesus around the world. Diane (Vader) Johnson, is going strong with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Jackson, MS; Brent and Lorae Kinseth in Colorado Springs (Brent is helping lead worship for a Calvary Chapel and Lorae is working for the Navigator's ministry), Corey and Tiffany Carey ministering in Kenya, Frank and Steph Goetschl in Costa Rica, Rick and Colleen in the Middle East, Cathy in Asia, Brad and Gina Shaw in Peru, Mark and Karen as well as Austin in Mexico, Cisco and Naomi leading outreach teams around the world out of San Diego, and many more! The Lord is so faithful!
Rich and Shelba: When Rich and Shelba first came to Gunnison from St. Louis, he had a strong background in the business world; running plants, marketing, etc. as well as many years of lay leadership experience in local churches. But the one thing he said he'd never do was preach. Well, you know what happens when we tell the Lord there's something we'll "never do". After preaching and teaching in a number of settings for over two years, it's exciting to see how the Lord can even use our "never" list! Please continue to pray for them as they see doors open to share God's wonderful word around Colorado and the Midwest.
Prayer Requests: For the anointing of the Holy Spirit to continue and increase as we share. For complete healing of my knee. For the Holy Spirit to lead Stephen and Joy to the church He has prepared for them to serve in. For our daughter Rebekah and husband Nick to fall in love with Jesus! For our good friends Ed Eddy, Joyce Henry, the Nicy Murphy family, the Harris family, and others who have had loved ones go to be with Jesus this year.
Finances: The Lord continues to provide in so many wonderful ways. No need is going unmet and we are able to help others. Thank You!
May the Lord Jesus richly pour out His "Showers of Blessings" on you and yours!
