Showers of Blessings!
Scotland: Greetings Lads and Lassies! Melva and I just returned from 2 weeks in Scotland visiting our daughter Joy and son-in-love Stephen. Stephen is in his last semester at Highland Theological College in Inverness and is praying for the Lord’s choice in which church to serve. Please join us in prayer! Stephen is the first of his immediate family to finish college and we are verrrrry proud of him.
While there, we were privileged to speak at the college chapel, sing at their church, sing in a castle and share with the staff of the Christian Focus publishing company.
We spent a lot of time visiting lochs and castles and met many wonderful new Christian friends as we visited Edinburgh, York (England) and Inverness. We’ve been invited back to share with several groups and would appreciate your prayers concerning this. You may remember that last year we had just arrived in Scotland when we received word that our grandson had been killed in an accident and we had to return home. We were so grateful for the opportunity to return.
College ministry: One of the exciting blessings we have at Western State is a group of committed students who are accepting leadership roles in conducting our meetings and discipling new students. This summer we have a number going off to the mission field, both in the United States and abroad. Others will serve in Christian camps and other venues of ministry. Your prayers and support help empower these workers. Thank you from all of them!
Upcoming Opportunities: Oklahoma (April 20-27) Melva and I leave again, this time to OK, to share the good news of Jesus at the Abell Community Church north of Guthrie. For over 20 years we have been privileged to share with these wonderful folks. One of the highlights is the participation of students from the University of Central Oklahoma who come and share their testimonies. Please pray for God to bring true revival.
After Oklahoma we visit Esterbrook, WY (May 4). In 2000 I was in charge of a forest fire engine and spent a week in the Esterbrook fire station. On Sunday morning I walked over to the church and was invited to speak. The Lord moved in a powerful way and now we get to go back and visit. Following Esterbrook, I begin a week of teaching at the Black Hills Biblical Institute in Rapid City, SD (May 7-15).
From Rapid City we head to Cripple Creek, CO and the Rocky Mountain Chapel (May 18). Then it’s on to Pitkin, CO, (May 25). We’ve shared at these churches for over two decades. God is so kind to allow us these opportunities. After this we will hold an outreach during the Colorado Wildfire Academy, fight a few forest fires and speak at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Denver (June 29). Somewhere in all this I hope to take a doctoral seminar as well. This is all “Lord willing” of course!
Health: Melva and I are feeling well with only a few lingering effects of her blood clots and my cancer surgery. Thank you for your continued prayers. When the ski area insisted I increase my work hours to maintain our health insurance, it entailed my working a number of days off in order to keep my ministry commitments. By God’s grace we exceeded the hours required and maintained the coverage.
Finances: This year we increased our support to students going out on mission trips and workers in need, as well as supporting two student interns (one who directs Campus Crusade and one who helps our FCA program). Still, as the need increased, God’s provision increased even more. New churches and individuals have felt led to join our support team. Thank you sooooo much! For those who pray for us regularly but can’t participate financially, you are very important to us as well! If we are supported in prayer, the finances will come as needed.
Prayer Requests: For the anointing of the Holy Spirit on us as we share around the country. For the Lord’s hand to be on the many students who go out to minister this summer at home and abroad. For our family to increase in our love and service to the Lord and each other. For the possibility of establishing a more formalized Christian Training Center here in Gunnison.
Well, lads and lassies, that’s a wee bit of an update. Thanks be to God for all your love, prayers and support. You are loved and appreciated!
