Wow! What a mighty God we serve! Greetings from the land of Rocky Mountain hi’s. Today, I had lunch with three new football coaches at Western State. They love the Lord and want to be involved with FCA!
May started out with a bang as we shared in San Diego at the Horizon School of Evangelism, with E3 Ministries, and had lunch with Milt Hughes who helped me come to Jesus 37 years ago. Then we made a quick stop in Los Angeles to see our youngest son Tim at BIOLA University and good friend Bill Gartrell, formerly of Denver Seminary.
Upon arriving home I taught a fire class for federal and county firefighters. Then, I was dispatched to Phoenix for 2 weeks. Fortunately, there were few fires during my stay and I was able to meet several wonderful Christians and hand out New Testaments. While in Phoenix, two shops diagnosed my 95 Ford Explorer as having terminal transmission problems, but after much prayer I started driving home. The problems disappeared! The morning after returning home, Melva and I shared at Pitkin Community Church and this week I taught two more fire classes and gave away New Testaments.
Coming up: Monday, we leave to teach at the Colorado Wildfire Academy (and celebrate our 35th), then drive directly to Livermore, CO north of Ft. Collins to speak June 11. The 18th we share in Rapid City, SD. Cripple Creek, CO will be Sunday July 9 followed by a rodeo service and other local services. Lord willing, in between, we will join some of Melva’s family for a rest break in HI for almost two weeks!
Thank you for your prayers and financial support! God is doing wonderful things and you are a vital part of it all. Ministry finances are a little slow right now, but we trust the Lord to continue to show His grace. (The fire assignments average 85-100 hours a week and that really helps pay our personal bills and Tim’s college.) Our family is doing well. Tim and Steve are both home for the summer and that’s great. My mom is going strong and Bekah spent a couple of weeks with us. Joy and Stephen still love their study and service in Scotland.
You are loved and appreciated. Please continue to pray for us each day or as often as the Lord brings us to your thoughts. We know that where there is much prayer, there is much power!
In His grace,
Rick and Melva
