Love Is In The Air!
Greetings: to the most loved people in the world! Just think about it. God so loved you (and us) that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to live among us, die for us and rise up to live eternally with us! All because of His wonderful love for us! Wow!
Current happenings: Well, I had shoulder surgery and it was a blessing. The damage was relatively minor, my pain negligible and I’m only unable to teach skiing for 4 weeks (or so). Last week, my physical therapist asked how I was able to heal so quickly. I responded that folks (you) around the country were praying for me. She said, “Oh, healing energy”. I responded that better than that, I knew the healer!
I’m using the “down time” to write seminary papers, work on sermons, counsel students, devote some time to my wildlife photos, and basically enjoy some time off. Oh, and I’ve been asked by the Montrose, CO fire department to help them with a public relations campaign as well. So, I’m not exactly getting bored. In fact, I’m not sure how I do all this and teach skiing five days a week…. Your prayers and His grace!
We had a record turnout last week for our “called to (vocational) ministry group. 16 students showed up at our 6:30 am, weekly meeting where we train college men and women in preparation for leadership in ministry. Your prayers and support allow us to equip them with study materials, guest speakers and breakfast.
Our college and high school FCAs are still going strong with over 60 in attendance.
Family: Melva is substitute teaching almost daily, keeping the ministry correspondence going and being grandma. Joy and Stephen report that Stephen passed his latest round of Greek and Hebrew tests in Scotland (PTL). Please pray for the right job for Stephen. Rebekah is busy working in Vail. Steve is working non-stop at a local church and speaking periodically at our FCA meetings. Tim is working and preparing for his last semester at BIOLA.
Finances: By the grace of God and your faithfulness, we finished 2005 ahead of budget and 2006 continues strong. This is allowing me to take some “sick leave” and “study leave” since I’m not able to work on the mountain. Thank You! It is so important that we have the resources to equip the college and high school students during this time. Plus, it really helps to carry a surplus into the summer months during which giving often drops off. Thanks especially to you new and regular monthly givers.
Upcoming: Lord willing, I can return to work before mid-February. I’ll be preaching a three-week series in Gunnison and teaching several fire classes as well. March 1-3, I’ll be leading the worship for our annual men’s Bible/ski retreat in Beaver Creek. April 2-8 we’ll be holding services in Guthrie, OK. We hope to be teaching in San Diego in May. Please pray that the Lord will order our schedule and anoint us with His Holy Spirit!
Thank You! You are loved by God the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and us!
